Sarasota Preparing for Hurricane Irma

What a week!  Everyone was on edge waiting to see where Hurricane Irma would hit.  Thank goodness it wasn’t a category 4 or 5 like originally predicted.  We were very fortunate and only lost power.  It went out around 6:30 on Sunday evening and our amazing electric company, FPL, got it back up and running Wednesday afternoon.  There are still so many people without power so please say an extra prayer for them before you go to sleep tonight.  It is still pretty hot here in Florida!Goodnight Macaroon chambray tunic dressJeffrey Campbell bootiesSarasota blogger

We decided to head downtown Sunday morning to see what was going on.  As you can see from the photos below, not a whole lot was happening.  Main Street was like a ghost town. It was nice to see everyone take this storm seriously and watch the community come together to prep for hurricane Irma. Irma was not a big rain maker like Harvey, but man was it windy!  I think the boards over the windows served their purpose more than we know.  When our power went out, we could really hear everything blowing around outside.

I hope everyone is ok and that we don’t have to go through another one of those for a very long time!
